2005 Napa Valley Merlot

This dark garnet colored Merlot opens with aromas of red raspberries, summer sweet blackberries, and cedar oak with hints of sage. The wine exhibits flavors of strawberries, currants, dark chocolate, Kona coffee, and savory herbs with notes of deeply toasted French oak.

A full-bodied Merlot, this wine would be excellent for grilled spicy lamb sirloin alongside sweet potatoes wedges, fried sage and sautéed swiss chard, pesto pizza piled with aged Romano cheese, smoked chicken, and red onions, or a flatiron steak with cheesy Gouda - Yukon Gold mashers and balsamic glazed green beans.
